Summer?!!!

Oh my word!  I've fallen behind again...

I guess that shows that I have been busy! May went by in a swoosh!  Garden to be prepped and planted, the Master Gardener's plant sale was on the 13th, so that helped clear out the green house. And then we were preparing for the Family Vacation. LOTS going on.  I finally reached my first weight goal just before we left (like 3am when we got up to leave for the airport, I was just 159.8#).  So here is the month in photos.

My Happy Place!
In the glassed shed, potting up seedlings.

A full shed.
There are over 100 tomato plants, plus about 24 peppers, some brassicas and flowers.

Warm enough to walk, and clear sidewalks!

Making Muffins, licking batter is OK at this grandma's house!

Muffin break!

My garden insect net needed mending, so I got out the Featherweight.

Broccoli are already planted.

The cabbages got the cover-up.

My hair has gotten long enough that it needs curlers, but it is still short enough
that the curlers tend to fall out before it is dry. 1940's style scarf does the trick.

The black caps needed a LOT of pruning. Mostly rabbit damage, but they always need to be cut back in the spring.  I had also left the bird net on too long.  It was a gonner...

Finished project.
It took a couple of hours (and I cut all the canes into short bits to bag up).

The Plant Sale was a circus, as usual.  It is usually sold out in less than 2 hours.

And then I came home to my nice, quiet garden, ready to plant - almost.
It was still too early for most things.

Mother's Day card from DS the Elder and family.

DH got a battery-powered trike for me (second-hand, from a friend)!

I rode it to the School to meet Grandson.

Then DH had to go out and buy a Scooter for himself....

And then there was a weekend that we had the Grandkids.

Eldest GS doing chores.

Middle GS doing another chore - taking out the compost.

Granddaughter doing some watering....

With help and guidance from Middle GS

PLAYtime at Grandma's

And playtime at their house, too.
Not warm enough for play IN the water, but I think they liked playing in the sand.

And then, Just the following week, it was the Annual Family Vacation.  This year, we had decided to do a "fly-away" vacation, and decided it would be good to go out to Oregon and visit DH's family - whom the little kids had never met.  It was a great idea and we ALL had fun!  We rented a house for our family, flew out in groups from different locations and met in Portland.  Once we had rented 2 cars, we headed for the Coast - making a couple of stops as we went.

Our group (DH and I, DS the Younger and his Fiance and her daughter) stopped at the Tillamook Forest Center.

There ARE 4 people in this photo!
They're hiking from the bridge high above, to the stream below.
I, of course, stayed up on the bridge.

DS the Younger.

Our group was in charge of getting the groceries.
Beer filled the rest of the cart....

Then at the house, we met the Grandkid's cousin (their second cousin, actually)
and settled right in to playing games!

On our second day, we made a 2-hour trek over to the Evergreen Aviation and Space Museum to see the Spruce Goose and other interesting aircraft.  The kids loved it!

But first, LUNCH!

Under the wings of the Spruce Goose were tons of other exhibits.
Yes, we went up inside her.  Even bigger than the jets we all flew out in!

Some were more interested in reading the exhibits than others.....
"See Gramma - I'm a plane, too!"

Ice cream on the way home....

And after we got back, an evening walk on the beach...
It was only about 4 blocks from our rental house.

No, no storm here, just off shore.

The reason we chose THIS particular rental house... the hot tub.
Grandpa got in every night, but only this one time did we let the kids in.
And that was enough.....

DH and I on the beach.

Most of the grown-ups....

Father and daughter

On Sunday, DS the Younger and his crew had to leave.  so we were three lighter, but I don't think they were happy about going....  EVERYONE was having a good time.  Even those in the last days of Covid (SiL and her Hubby) and the child who got tummy troubles.  Another day the resident family were out of their Covid Quarrentine, so we made a morning visit to their house (which is up on the side of a mountain and just lovely).

Brothers-in-Law

Our Host, cooking omlettes

My S-i-L and my son, at the dining table.

Out for a walk around their "neighborhood".

It was only around a block, but what a workout!

DH and I, on a high note....

The kid cousins really hit it off!

Most of us....

Good-bye on Tuesday morning to our little Vacation house!

But NEVER leave Tillamook area without visiting the Creamery!

We had Ice Cream as well as cheese curds.

The 3-flavor sample cups were a hit.

Back in Portland, we were happy to find that our downtown hotel was just a few blocks away from
Powell's Books!

And of course, we had to try to move the big thingy....

And the next morning, we all sallied on to the airport and caught our flights back home.  Totally uneventful, but wearing.  We had a 4-hour layover in Minneapolis so treated ourselves to a sit-down meal in a nicer airport restaurant.

Our Grandkids know the drill.
They all carry their own "entertainment" backpacks and know to stay close in airports.

My airport dinner was delicious.

We finally got home at 12:23 am on June 1.
And then we slept in... just a bit.

Another successful Family Vacation.
