Changes, changes - that's our "New Normal'

Image
What was that I said in my last post about things always changing?  Well, this month will fit that mold, too!  BIG changes and I hope they will all be good. The first to pop up was that the kids decided to put the two little ones in a different daycare, out in the small town where D-i-L works. Very good logic as that daycare has much smaller classes and most of the children there have parents in the same health-care group as my D-i-L works with... so if there is any exposure to Covid-19, staff will probably all be sent home just like the kids. Oldest Grandson started school, and I will still be on call to pick him up every day and keep him until the parents are done at work.  So I'll be trading two littles for one big!  As well, I will also still be the back-up if (when) anyone has to be in isolation or schools close.  So I'm telling myself that I'm just having a little break.... The next HUGE change is that hubby has accepted a job here and will be moving...

Progress!

Just a quick note on the status of my broken leg, etc.  Interview with Orthopedic surgeon was wonderful, he claims I am making excellent progress.  I may now progress to "putting weight on it as tolerated", and not wearing the cast in bed at night (particularly wonderful). I am still on crutches, though. So as I walked out of the office, using my foot to bear a little weight and putting considerably less stress on my hands, I was much relieved!  Getting around is easier now, and I can even go upstairs upright! The weather this week has been Spring-like.... 80's on Sunday and back down to highs in the 50's and rain throughout the week.  And we even had SNOW showers on Thursday morning.  The temperature at that time was 38F. I'm still going to set out hardy plants this weekend, if Aaron agrees to take me shopping and help me..... Now, on to more philosophical comments.... In the past week I have read a couple of books, both by one of my favorite authors, D.E...

A new job

Okay, I finally did it! I have been trolling for a way to earn some income - I need to support my hobb(ies) you know - and applying for a time-card kind of job was not working out.  My condolences to all those folks out there that are applying for jobs with online applications - YUCK!  What a horrible experience!  So I decided to look into a home-based business and settled on Pampered Chef. I love to cook and am better than most home cooks nowadays!  It seems like learning to cook is at the bottom of most people's to-do lists.  We have become a society that excels at eating out or opening boxes if we "cook" at home.  I had a thought about a year ago that I would like to teach cooking classes to young people, so this is a step in the same direction.  Except that with the Pampered Chef cooking demonstrations, they most often start with -or at least include- some kind of pre-made or pre-packaged ingredients.  Guess I will have to just acc...
