A New Year

 January 2023

...Seems like forever ago, but it wasn't really. We pretty much started the year with more snow:

And then the start of tax prep season and organizing financial paperwork

DS the Eldest's birthday was the 4th, and he requested Egg Rolls (I added stir fry).

And that finally gives us a break from family birthdays for a couple of months!

Besides the inches upon inches of snow, nature gave us some really interesting gifts.  The hoar frost was absolutely gorgeous, day after day as our days were warm enough for a bit of melting, and nights got cold enough to build the humidity into a frosty coating for everything.

Elvis' health improved and we were able to walk again, albeit carefully with ice building in the low places every night. The snow is piled high and some corners are impassible unless the homeowner made a path through to the street.

And here is the residen rabbit who has had to eat my apple trees to stay alive... my last 2 apple trees are dead now. Wish it were this little rodent, instead....

GOTCHA - evidence!

Beautiful sunrise

Beautiful amaryllis (second bloom stem)

Beautiful hoarfrost

And time with beautiful grandchildren.

coloring

Brio train all over the basement TV room

delivering GS#2 to basketball (age 4)
during another snow fall

More snow (only 3")

finally some sewing for me

Getting early seeds started

Onions and pansies to start off.

So a rather unusual start to this new year, I hope that we get a January thaw in February?
