Family, finally!

We had a lovely week-end!  Our Younger Son came to visit and brought is lady-friend.  It is about an 8-hour drive so is quite the undertaking - and taking a day from work.  I had not seen him since... Thanksgiving???  No, I just checked my photos and I saw him in October when I went to visit HIM!

They arrived in time for dinner on Friday, but not knowing their ETA, we decided not to cook.  Instead we ordered Carry-Out from Dave's Famous recipe BBQ.  Yum!  The little ones behaved like heathens, but they were very excited.  Baby Girl would not go near them... Stranger Danger in full force! They stayed with DS the Elder (because I warned them that our Sump Pump was noisy) and reports the next day said the boys sat up very late chatting.  Good for them!

Saturday was a cool, cloudy day and we just couldn't get excited about doing anything much outdoors.  Anything indoors would be too crowded in these Covid-laced times, so we stayed in and played games... well, just Sequence, but it is an easy favorite.  Of course the little kids didn't like that much and wanted to sit on laps and generally interfere, but that is how I remembered things going when I was a child, too.  We planned an oven supper so not much busyness over that.  Part of the day was at our house, and the rest was at DS the Elder's (so Baby could nap).

Sunday was a much nicer day, of course since they had to go home!  I took Breakfast Pizza and Grandma's Coffee Cake over for brunch... completely forgetting that the lady friend is allegic to almonds, which is the topping for the coffee cake!  Fail on my part! I felt badly for forgetting because I had thought of her allergy earlier in the week!  I guess I need to write a BIG NOTE and stick it on the fridge!

The travelers had to head out after brunch, but not before the lady friend offered to take a family photo of all the rest of us.  Too bad my brain shut down and I did not think to get a photo of her and DS the  Younger.  How rude of me!  But I am grateful for this gem!
